How it all started…

OK let’s get real. Growing up, I had no idea what I wanted to be. It changed… probably more times than I can count. And to be honest, I’m still figuring it out. In high school and freshman year of college, there was so much pressure on me to figure out what the hell I wanted to do with my life. Fast forward 4 years later (yes, I’m a 5th year), I JUST NOW have it figured out. And that’s okay.

I am a 22 year old advertising student at the University of South Carolina (GO COCKS!!!). After graduation, I’m hoping to find my calling somewhere in an advertising agency working on some PRETTY cool projects. And I’m gonna be honest, I love the creative side of the ad industry. After 4 major changes and months away from graduation, I’m realizing I probably would’ve been better off majoring in visual communications. But that’s okay, because I found my passion in account planning: where I still get to “hone-in” on my creative skills while focusing on client management and coming up with ways to make brands feel approachable and relatable to consumers.

I’m due to graduate in December and I cannot wait! I know, I know, everyone says not to rush college! I can hear it now, “ but college days are the best days of your life!" And yes, but I agree to disagree. I love college and have enjoyed the journey of finding my calling but I am SO ready to become (not just) a colleague, but an asset to someone’s team. I am someone who will bring results and thoughtful ideas to the table. And (almost) most importantly, add onto an agency’s company culture. I’m confident that’s what I’ll really love: becoming part of an agency’s family. In advertising, we view life from another perspective. It’s about digging deep to understand the difference products and companies make in people’s lives.

My website is called, “I’d rather travel” because I love traveling so much and I don’t get to travel as nearly as often as I’d like. I have big dreams of converting and living in my own van one day. What a better way to explore the world than a home on wheels? In the mean time, I’ll be brushing up on my photography and writing skills. I’ll keep you updated! :)
